* New * Online Intro to Weaving Workshop
We are really excited to host our new Online Intro to Weaving Workshop! This workshop is our popular in-studio Intro to Weaving workshop, but it is being held online via Zoom. To make this even more special, we have put together our favourite Weaving Kit that includes a HUGE stash of yarns and fibres, along with our uniquely designed frame loom & weaving tool set and our new Weaving Accessories pack.
If you'd like to learn at a distance, but be guided every step of the way, then this workshop is for you!
This workshop brings us back to our roots by offering students the opportunity to learn to weave on a hand loom. Over a 2-day period, students will learn how to set up a hand loom and weave their very own textile samples. We only offer this workshop to a small group of 3 weavers, so there will be plenty of opportunities to ask questions and take notes.
Using your chosen Yarn Starter Pack and our unique Frame Loom and Weaving Tools, you will learn modern tapestry weaving techniques like Soumak and Rya knots (fringe) and classic hand-weaving techniques such as plain weave (tabby) and ribs to create a wall-hanging that reflects your personal style.
Working on our uniquely designed frame loom, students will learn to weave without needing to follow a rigid curriculum. You will cover traditional weaving patterns such as plain weave (tabby), twills, hop sack and ribs, as well as contemporary tapestry weaving techniques such as Soumak and Rya knots. You will also learn to set up your frame loom and finish off your woven piece and be given insight into how your newly-acquired skills also work on hand looms.
Each student will also take home one of our small, uniquely designed CSD Frame Looms and its corresponding set of Weaving Tools, a Yarn Starter Pack full of gorgeous yarns and a Tote Bag to hold it all in!
In this workshop you will learn to weave your very own cushion cover. Under our guidance, you will wind your very own blend of yarns from a selection of gorgeous weaving yarns from our studio, combine them with your preferred colour of wool roving and learn a selection of classic hand-weaving techniques to personalise your own version of this popular cushion design.
Each student will also take home one of our large, uniquely designed CSD Frame Looms and its corresponding set of Weaving Tools, a Yarn Starter Pack full of gorgeous yarns and a Tote Bag to hold it all in!
Working to the students own experience and ability of weaving, we tailor this workshop to ensure the student gets the most out of their time with us. Whether they are a true beginner, wish to brush up on their skill set or try some advanced techniques, we are able to help. Sessions can be booked in 4 hour sessions and over multiple days.
