From Jericho to East Oxford: A Move Toward Creative Freedom

Cassandra Sabo weaving on The Oxford Frame Loom deep in concentration.

Change has always been part of my creative rhythm — it keeps me curious, inspired, and evolving. As I prepare to move from my studio in Jericho to a new space in East Oxford, I’m embracing this transition as a chance to rediscover creative freedom — to weave, design, and explore with renewed focus.

This move is more than just a change of address; it’s a conscious decision to make more room for creativity. Over the past few years, I’ve spent much of my time teaching, developing resources, and running The Oxford Weaving Studio. While that work has been deeply fulfilling, I’ve missed the quiet, immersive focus that comes from long days at the loom — the space where ideas unfold and designs take shape thread by thread.

In my new studio, I’ll be dedicating more time to weaving, experimenting with materials, and developing one-of-a-kind pieces that reflect my evolving journey as a designer. You’ll see this shift through more beautifully crafted commissions, limited-edition product drops, and new design work that celebrates the depth and character of handmade textiles.

Teaching will still play an important role — just in a more focused and sustainable way. I’ll be supporting learning through The Oxford Frame Loom, developing digital projects and video resources to share tips, techniques, and creative insights. I’m also planning weaving retreats, designed to inspire and motivate others to discover their weaving style in a more immersive setting.

For me, this next chapter is about balance and intention — between designing and teaching, business and creativity, structure and exploration. I’m excited to see what emerges when I allow myself the freedom to weave, think, and create more deeply — and to share that energy with others.

If you’ve followed my journey so far, thank you. Your support — whether through commissions, workshops, or simple words of encouragement — has made this next step possible. I can’t wait to welcome you into this new phase, filled with colour, texture, and possibility.
