West Coast Collection: 'Driftwood' Wall-Hanging

Sale price Price £715.00 Regular price

The 'Driftwood' wall-hanging is inspired by floating driftwood found along the rivers of the Pacific West Coast in Canada. Using super soft, wool roving, the fibres were hand-woven into the backing cloth using a contemporary weaving technique, while still on the loom. The rich texture contrasts with coloured patterns to create a strong visual focal point.

Each wall-hanging design in our West Coast Collection features a unique blend of lustrous cotton and kilcarra tweed which are chosen to add depth of colour and texture. Our distinctive style also features recycled cotton or wool roving, ensuring a rich combination of fibres and colours. When combined, these natural materials create soft, lightweight textiles that will soften any interior.

This unique collection of wall-hangings features circular rings or macrame techniques that are inlayed while still on the loom. This complex process of integrating the design between rows of handwoven yarn creates a technical challenge that results in a soft and textured artwork. Choosing designs that cannot be mill-woven reflects our commitment to craftsmanship, time-honoured weaving traditions and cultivating an increasingly sustainable practice.
